David DiMella is a student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, where he is studying aerospace engineering with a focus on aerodynamics. As part of his coursework, David DiMella analyzed fully the aerodynamic stability of a Learjet 24 and designed and tested a Formula-1 style rear wing in a wind tunnel.
As an aircraft manufacturing intern with Sonex LLC in 2022, Mr. DiMella designed limited parts for Rotax light sport aircraft engines, programmed a three-axis mill table, and manufactured parts for an experimental aerobatic aircraft. He was a member of the Embry-Riddle Baja SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) team in 2020 and served as vice president of the Embry-Riddle Off-Road Club from 2019 to 2021. His main duties as vice president were to organize and lead off-road trips across the state of Florida.
David DiMella graduated from Princeton High School in 2019. While there, he was the founder and co-president of the Princeton High School Engineering Club, a team that worked with Princeton University to design and test ThinSat low-earth orbit satellites. His interests include motorsports, travel, snowboarding, classic car collecting, and golf. He is also proficient in Spanish.
